About the Author

S.S. Bhavikatti, studied at BVB College of Engineering and Technology for his BE (Civil) degree and obtained degree from Karnataka University in 1963 sharing 1st rank. He obtained ME degree in Structural Engineering in 1967 from University of Roorkee (presently IIT Roorkee) and Ph.D. degree in 1977 from IIT Delhi. He served KREC Surathkal (presently NITK) from 1963 to 2001 as a teacher and also in different capacities like head of Civil Engg. Dept., Chairman, Centre for continuing education, Chairman, Central computer centre and Dean from November 2001 to November 2005 he served SDMCET Dharwad as professor and Dean from December 2005 to September 2007 he worked in RYMEC Bellary as Principal. From 2008 till today he is Emeritus Professor at KLE Technological University (formerly BVBCET) Hubli. He has published more than 65 technical papers in national and international journals and seminars and 56 books in civil engineering. He guided 76 candidates for M. Tech thesis and 6 candidates for Ph.D. He was a member of organizing/ scientific communities of international seminars organized by I.A.S.S. held at Taegue (South Korea) in 1989, Tokyo (Japan) in 1993 and Taipei (Taiwan) in 1997. He is a member of several Indian and international professional bodies.
