Synopsis

The book aims at introducing the beginner to the complex, multi-disciplinary subject of heterogeneous catalysis. It discusses various aspects of adsorption on solid surfaces as adsorption is the first step in a heterogeneous catalyzed reaction. About The Dipak Kumar Chakrabarty joined the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay in 1967 where he spent his entire professional life to retire in 1997. His research work was mostly in the areas of solid state chemistry and heterogeneous catalysis and he has many? publications in leading journals of chemistry and physics. In recognition to his contributions, the institute in 2002 conferred on him the title Professor Emeritus.
