The protagonist of the book, Major DP Singh is a Kargil War veteran with a disability rating of 100 per cent. An amputee marathoner, he is known as Indias first Blade Runner. In March 2019, he wrote another chapter in his life story by becoming the First Indian solo skydiver with a disability. He is a four-time record holder with the Limca Book of Records, and won the coveted People of the Year award in 2016. In 2018, Major Singh was conferred the National Award by the Government of India for the empowerment of persons with disabilities. In 2019, he received the prestigious CavinKare Ability Award in the Mastery category among persons with disabilities. Major Singh runs a non-profit organization, The Challenging Ones (TCO), through which he helps amputees inculcate a positive attitude through sports.
