PreSchool-Grade 2-Tired of living in the same place all her life, Mrs. Rabbit leaves her warm, safe den to go in search of a different, more exciting home. Each new dwelling she finds has something wrong: the squirrel's hole in a tree trunk is too high, the weasel's is too dark, the otter's too wet, and so on. When, finally, she comes across a fox's home, Mrs. Rabbit knows better than to stop. Chased by danger, she runs straight to her little old house and discovers it was the perfect place all along. This is a great read-aloud to share in a storyhour or at bedtime. The large, bold print and simple text give it special appeal for beginning independent readers. Children will be captivated by the attractive, delicate, colorful drawings with raised textures. Bookstores and libraries will have a difficult time keeping this title on their shelves. Lucia M.
