Synopsis
La novia oscura narra la historia de Sayonara, una niña que llega a La Catunga, el barrio de la mujeres de Tora, decidida a convertirse en prostituta. La matrona dueña del prostíbulo, en cuanto la ve reconoce en ella "esa singular mezcla de desamparo y soberbia que enardecía el deseo masculino más que cualquier afrodisíaco". Por eso accede a adoptar a la principianta y educarla en el oficio más viejo del mundo, hasta convertirla en la mujer más deseada y más amada de La Catunga. Ningún hombre va a poder resistirse a los encantos de Sayonara, no habrá uno solo que, después de estar con ella, no la ame. Pero el destino, le tiene reservado a esa "bienamada" un amor azaroso y esquivo, que la llevará por un sendero que ella nunca había imaginado. Ambientada en la "muy prostibularia ciudad deTora" y con las huelgas petroleras contra la Tropical Oil Company como transfondo, La novia oscura es una de las novelas más importantes de los últimos años dentro del panorama literario colombiano.
