Andres was born in Szombathely, Hungary, into a family of actors and Szentgyorgyi poets, but spent his childhood in the Andes and jungles of Colombia. He studied at the Universidad de Antioquia in Medellin, Colombia, Houghton College, NY, Indiana University and U of Missouri, all in Psychology. He was Chief Psychologist for the State of Oregon under Gov. McCall. Besides over 30 publications in his specialty, Berger-Kiss is a bilingual poet and novelist.
His first novel, Hijos de la Madrugada, which he translated into English as Children of the Dawn, as been published by Dancing Moon Press. His novel Don Alejo y sus 186 hijos (Don Alejandro and His 186 Children) appeared in February of 2006 in Bogotá, Colombia.
He has given recitals of his poetry in Hungary, Colombia, Spain, Mexico, Germany, Canada and the US. He opened the Third International Congress of Hispanic Poetry at Pecs University in Hungary by reading from his bilingual book, Voices from the Earth, published at ECOE Ediciones in Bogota; My Three Lands and A Fistful of Dust has just appeared as a poetry collection from Editorial Betania in Madrid.
Currently he is writing a political-religious spoof with the working title of The Secret Memoirs of a Born-again Preacher.
