It was customary for the ancient Chinese to compare the qualities of jade to the virtues of a gentleman with special reference to its qualities of refinement and durability. According to the Book of Rites, jade was described as to have ten virtues, hence it was very much valued by the Chinese. This book was produced to coincide with the 8th Festival of Asian Arts held between 21/10/83 and 24/12/83.The book is in very nice condition EXCEPT for where the pages at the back are slightly bowed from the previous owner storing a small catalogue there.
