English abstract: In Tennessee Williams Goes to Hollywood, or the Dialogue of Drama and Film Zolt�n Dragon sets out to renew the dominant critical and theoretical background and vocabulary of the theory of adaptation, and to provide a novel way to study adaptations. He takes his cue from the analyses of celebrated Hollywood film adaptations of the plays of Tennessee Williams. The book introduces the notions of intermedial dialogue and medial break, providing a feasible and flexible framework for the interpretation not only of Williams plays, but in a more general way for film adaptations across various media.

About the Author

Zolt�n Dragon, PhD, is senior assistant professor at the Department of American Studies, University of Szeged, Hungary. His fields of research include: digital culture and theories, film theory, film adaptation, and psychoanalytic theory. His books are: The Spectral Body: Aspects of the Cinematic Oeuvre of Istv�n Szab� (2006; Kindle ebook 2012), Encounters of the Filmic Kind: Guidebook to Film Theories (co-authored with R�ka M. Cristian, 2008), Tennessee Williams Hollywoodba megy, avagy a dr�ma �s film dial�gusa [Tennessee Williams Goes to Hollywood, or the Dialogue of Drama and Film] (in Hungarian, ebook 2011, print book 2012), and A Practical Guide to Writing a Successful Thesis in the Humanities (2012).
