Ever since King Solomon built the Holy Temple on Jerusalem's Temple Mount, Jews around the world have seen the holy city as the core of their lives. Jews from every continent on the globe have always prayed three times a day facing Jerusalem. Jews from Yemen, Ethiopia, and Lithuania; Jews from Morocco, Spain, India, Poland, and Russia. No matter where they are born, no matter where they die, all Jews have Jerusalem in common.
Jerusalem Day 2017 marks fifty years since the reunification of Jerusalem in 1967, allowing worshipers of all religions to freely worship and pray in their holy places for the first time in hundreds of years. In honor of this great anniversary, this unique photo essay brings together the thoughts and reminiscences of those who love the holy city.
MY JERUSALEM features a unique collection of photos by one of Israel's most recognized photographers, Ziv Koren. Here are the people of Jerusalem: the real, everyday people who live in Jerusalem; those who work in Jerusalem; those who worship in Jerusalem; and those who exercise their freedom to demonstrate in Jerusalem. This stunning book is a must-have for everyone whose heart beats to the rhythm of the world's holiest city.
Features personal essays on Jerusalem by 36 personalities, among them:
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Reuven Rivlin, Education Minister Naftali Bennett, Mayor of Jerusalem Nir Barkat, Mike Huckabee, Professor Deborah Lipstadt, Dr. Ruth R. Wisse, Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks, Pastor John Hagee, and many more.

Koren, who is based in Tel Aviv, was the subject of the documentary film More than 1000 Words, which was widely screened at film festivals around the world, garnering a dozen awards. He regularly lectures at workshops and universities worldwide. My Jerusalem is his 15th book.
Ilan Greenfield was born in Israel, studied in Tel Aviv, and joined the IDF for three years as a medic in the paratroopers. Following his military service, he studied in Fullerton College and became a Zionist activist on campus in California. He joined TELEM as treasurer 1980-1982. Returning to Israel in 1982, Ilan joined his family publishing company, Gefen Publishing House, and has consequently managed the company.
Gefen Publishing House is Israel's leading publisher with many important and outstanding titles. Among them are The Letters of Jonathan Netanyahu, Yoni's Last Battle by Iddo Netanyahu, Flags Over the Warsaw Ghetto by Israel's former Minister of Defense, Moshe Arens, and several books by Rabbi Shmuley Boteach - known as Rabbi of America. Gefen has also published And Every Single One Was Someone, a unique book with the word JEW 6,000,000 times - a book which has received a NY Times front page coverage and has been praised by many leaders of the world including PM Netanyahu, Elie Wiesel, VP Mike Pence, and many more.
I recommend My Jerusalem be given as a parting gift to every student who spends time studying in Israel, and to every tourist to remind him of a lover lost to another place. It is a book of art for everyone who desires to live in Jerusalem and for those who want to understand what makes Jerusalem different. To paraphrase Shai Agnon, Greenfield and Koren significantly add to the study of Jerusalem, and you have done well. --Dr. Harold Goldmeier, Consultant, Public Speaker, Businessman
An inherently fascinating and impressively informative read from cover to cover, My Jerusalem: The Eternal City is a unique and truly memorable contemporary study of Jerusalem and its people, making it an ideal and unreservedly recommended addition to personal, family, synagogue, community, and academic library collections. --Willis M. Buhle, Buhle's Bookshelf, Midwest Book Review
