Braille Burmese Chinese (simplified) Croatian Czech English Hindi Hebrew Hungarian Korean Norwegian Russian Slovakian Spanish Ukrainian Vietnamese Thou Shalt Innovate profiles wondrous Israeli innovations that are collectively changing the lives of billions of people around the world and explores why Israeli innovators of all faiths feel compelled to make the world better. This is the story of how Israelis are helping to feed the hungry, cure the sick, protect the defenseless, and make the desert bloom. Israel is playing a disproportionate role in helping solve some of the world s biggest challenges by tapping into the nation's soul: the spirit of tikkun olam the Jewish concept of repairing the world.

Following Start-Up Nation's account of Israel's incredibly prolific start-up scene, Thou Shalt Innovate tells the story of how Israeli innovation is making the whole world a better place. Israel has extraordinary innovators who are bound together by their desire to save lives and find higher purpose. In a part of the world that has more than its share of darkness, these stories are rays of light.

What people are saying about Thou Shalt Innovate:

It's a great read for entrepreneurs, business leaders, and anyone who wants to understand where innovation comes from and how it s done.
Dan Senor and Saul Singer, co-authors, Start-Up Nation

Seth M. Siegel, author, New York Times best seller Let There Be Water

Thou Shalt Innovate is a book the world needs to pay attention to. In a rich and exhilarating narrative, Avi Jorisch outlines the roadmap for how Israelis innovate while making the world a better place, and how other countries and people can follow suit.
Yaakov Katz, Editor in Chief, Jerusalem Post; co-author, The Weapon Wizards

The secret of Israel's innovation is about leadership, determination, and, perhaps above all, about seeing opportunity when others predict failure. Thou Shalt Innovate gives readers a valuable insight into Israeli innovation and entrepreneurship, together with some inspiring lessons in leadership.

Review

To discuss Israel's innovations, Mr. Jorisch's book consists of more than a dozen fascinating biographical profiles of leading Israeli innovators whose inventions have had worldwide impacts in their respective fields.
Thou Shalt Innovate is a valuable guide to understanding the outstanding results of Israel's innovative culture and how it can serve as a model for other countries high-tech development efforts. --Joshua Sinai, The Washington Post

Innovation, suggests author Avi Jorisch, is the sacred calling of modern Israel. But while many have written about Israel's grand success in developing problem-solving technologies, this is the first study to focus primarily on Israeli innovations that extend, improve, and save lives. Presenting uplifting profiles of fifteen innovations, all framed as contributing to Israel's success at being "a light unto the nations", Jorisch argues that the Israeli commitment to tikkun olam, repairing the world, is a characteristic written in Judaism s spiritual DNA.
Lucid, vivid, and elevating, this inspired and inspiring book is a thoughtful antidote to despair about Israel s place in today s world and, literally, the world to come. --Philip K. Jason, Jewish Book Council

Thou Shalt Innovate gives a deep insight in the role Israeli scientists, engineers, doctors and other leaders are playing in the lives of not only Israeli citizens but also improving the living standards across the developing world. Avi Jorisch has done a commendable job in highlighting the work of these great Israeli innovators. Thou Shalt Innovate is packed with inspiring and revealing stories of Israeli leaders who are changing the world for the better. It is a must-read to understand the Israeli society and where it is headed. --Kristine Q. Baker, Managing Editor, The Washington Book Review
