About the Author
Ricky Rapoport Friesem After 25 years as a journalist, documentary filmmaker and ultimately, Head of the Communications Department of the Weizmann Institute of Science, Ricky Rapoport Friesem turned her attention to her first love, creative writing. Since 1998, her poems have appeared in numerous journals and in two poetry collections: Parentheses, (2006) which received First Prize in Writer's Digest International Self-Published Book Awards, and Laissez-Passer (2009). Her chapbook, My Intifada, was published by Pudding House Publications in 2005. Her short story, Stuck on Jew, appeared in the 2011 Israeli Stories Anthology and her essay, The House of David, received First Prize in the Women in Judaism Multidisciplinary Journal Essay Contest . Her other awards include the 2010 International Senior Poet Laureate Award of the Amy Kitchener Foundation of the USA, and the Miriam Felicia Lindberg Memorial Foundation s Poetry for Peace Contest, 2010. She has also written two cook books: Fruits of the Earth (Adama Books, 1985) and Joy of Israel (Steimatzky, 1976). Born in Calgary and raised in Toronto, Canada, Ricky Rapoport Friesem moved to Israel in 1972. She is married to a physicist and has 3 sons and 12 grandchildren.
