Synopsis
Cuatro historias urbanas convergen en un solo destino, trazado por manos inexorables en lugares famosos o recónditos de la ciudad de México.
La Ciudad de México -espacio mítico, ambiguo y luminoso- es el escenario de Agua Quemada, un sube y baja social que en la pluma de Carlos Fuentes da vértigo y hechiza al lector.
Esta historia está hecha de cuatro relatos donde se narran momentos decisivos para los protagonistas, quienes descubren que la vida no es aquello que imaginaron. Sus personajes transitan por espacios y momentos trágicos y festivos, como ellos mismos: un general nostálgico ante la revolución mexicana, cada vez más corrompida; una anciana olvidada y su oscura relación con un niño paralítico de las vecindades del centro; un solterón acaudalado que no alcanza a comprender la pobreza ni la desaparición del mito fundador de su status, y un lumpen que, mientras traba un combate con las palabras, termina como guardaespaldas de quien le ha causado tanto dolor... La grandeza de ayer es la ruina de hoy, y nada lo demuestra mejor que la propia Ciudad de México y sus habitantes.

About the Author
Carlos Fuentes (1928-2012). Connotado intelectual y uno de los principales exponentes de la narrativa mexicana, tiene una vasta obra que incluye novela, cuento, teatro y ensayo.
