Marlon L. Fick was born in Olathe, Kansas and later lived in New York, West Africa, and Mexico City. In 1997 he was invited to read at Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico. Shortly thereafter his first book was a translation of his poems into Spanish, translated by a group of Mexico's most noted poets. For his fortcoming translations (University of New Mexico Press), Fick was recognized by the Office of the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Government of Mexico. He know divides his time between Kansas State University and Mexico City.
