Synopsis
Mudo e quedo como um penedo - diz o povo, mas sem razão. A verdade é que as pedras falam e mexem connosco (e não só as mancas), como nos ensinaram geólogos e paleontólogos. A estes dois grupos gostaria de juntar o dos fotógrafos. Que eu saiba, nunca nenhum curador se tinha lembrado de olhar para a pedra e rocha em fotografia. Um olhar de águia, transversal no tempo e no espaço. Quis investigar a maneira como os homens e mulheres têm captado as pedras nas suas câmaras, desde os tempos heróricos da fundação da fotografia. Por coincidência, a fotografia foi inventada na precisa altura em que os povos começaram a desbravar e a colonizar o espaço vazio - da América à Austrália - quantas vezes empurrando, modificando, ou dizimando os ocupantes originais. A fotografia foi testemunha dessa colonização. Pelo caminho, as pedras mágicas e as formações rochosas mais imponentes iam sendo fotografadas, às vezes apenas - como aconteceu com a conquista do Monte Everest em 1953 - porque estavam lá. Tinham ainda a vantagem de ser imóveis, e não darem imagens tremidas nessa época longínqua de longos tempos de exposição.
