Ideal for either armchair travel or a walking tour, this book is the first comprehensive guide in English to the charming and romantic Princes’ Islands, the small archipelago just off the Asian shore of Istanbul. Author John Freely brings alive the colorful history of the Princes’ Islands as a Byzantine place of exile and an Ottoman summer retreat, and his descriptions of the islands today include useful listings of the most important villas, churches, monasteries, and other sights of interest. Also included is a practical guide to accommodations, services, and recreational facilities.
