Ruth WONG Yeang Lam is Associate Professor at the English Language and Literature Academic Group, NIE. She specialises in methodology courses on teaching English at the primary level. She is particularly interested in literacy issues, especially in the areas of learning how to read and write for non-native speakers of English. She is passionate about teaching, and is a three-time recipient of the Best Teacher of the Year Nanyang Award. The teachers she trains remember her for her mantra to make language learning meaningful and fun for our primary school pupils. She believes in the power of reading, and indulges in the collection of children s books as a hobby.
