About the Author:

Jeff first touched a keyboard (a toy he bought for his children) at the age of 40. He quickly identified the one biggest factor that is keeping thousands, or millions of adults from having fun with the piano or keyboards, even when they have one at home for their children. The problem is not loss of ability to learn to play. It is not lack of passion or resolve to practice. It is the hurdle of reading music in its traditional presentation, which takes years of training. As a senior oil company executive, Jeff had no problem drawing some grey and white stripes (representing piano keys) with Excel spreadsheet and placing some music notes on them. He was soon playing his favorite piano pieces, Chopin's nocturns, on real piano! These home made scores would go on to obtain patent in the US (Patent No. 7,439,438) and around the world, and be called the Hao Staff (with reference to the traditional Grand Staff). Today, the Hao Staff is endorsed by many piano educationists and pianists around the world.
