Volume 3 of Trees of Costa Rica is the continuation of a series of guides describing the arboreal flora of one of the most advanced countries in biodiversity conservation. This field guide contains 234 species of Costa Rican trees, belonging to 18 families. Begun nearly 3 decades ago by the Tropical Science Center with the publication of volume 1, focusing entirely on species with compound leaves, the field guide series continued with the publication of volume 2 in 2000, completing the description of species with compound leaves and introducing species with simple leaves. This third volume continues with simple leaf species, describing a total of 1048 species out of almost 1900 existing in Costa Rica. This bilingual field guide is illustrated with detailed drawings of leaves, flowers and fruits to facilitate identification. There is also a section containing color photographs of many of the species described.
