Four sessions. One blade. No shortcuts.
Most knife books show you what a master can do. This one walks you through what you can do, in four working sessions, with fire, steel, and a plan.
The 4-Week Bladesmithing Intensive is the working companion to Kilroy's Workshop's hands-on course, and it stands on its own for any maker with shop access. Week one, you design a knife worth building and earn your hammer control at the anvil. Week two, you learn what heat actually does inside steel and forge your blade to shape. Week three is the point of no return: normalize, harden, temper, and grind. Week four: handle, finish, and add an edge that slices clean.

Ron Hardman is the founder of Kilroy's Workshop, a trades education organization serving more than 6,500 students each year across Colorado and Texas. A lifelong maker and educator, Ron has spent his career helping young people discover what they're capable of building with their own hands.
Before opening the workshop, Ron worked in public education administration and data consulting across Colorado's Front Range. He is the author of multiple books on making, mindset, and the trades, including the Forge Your Future series, and has published nonfiction with O'Reilly and McGraw-Hill. He also writes welding and bladesmithing curriculum used in his own classrooms, where every page gets tested against real students at real forges.
Ron lives in Colorado with his family. When he's not in the shop or writing, he's usually hanging out with his amazing wife, Susan, and his kids.
