About the Author

Jared Castro was raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. Due to his imigration status after turning 18, he self deported back to Guatemala, where he was born. He left the only reality he had ever known, for a strange and beautiful place he has been calling home for the past 20 years.  <br>He studied Graphic Design at the University of Galileo in Guatemala and spent over a decade working as a designer alongside investors, venture capitalists, entrepreneurs, managing directors, and marketing strategists; people who taught him, through the force of their professional expectations, what excellence actually looked like and what it required.<br>He learned to pitch like an entrepreneur, transmit like a creative director, and create culture like a general manager. He built brands. He built businesses and tought others to do the same.<br>In his mid-thirties he made a strategic career change, partly out of passion for education, partly out of research. He wanted to know what licensed teachers were actually taught and what they actually went through. He could not get those answers alone. So he became one. He taught for five years at a private high school in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. He hit a wall. He rebuilt. He built a professional framework that the education system never gave him. He created something he still misses.<br>He describes himself as a Learning Experience Designer, someone who builds human-centered learning experiences grounded in real-world professional practice rather than academic tradition. He lives in Honduras with his wife Zeyla and their children Alec and Kairi.
