Synopsis
To avoid going to jail and losing custody for her willful disregard of court orders, by way of repeated interrogations, Kathey manipulated our seven-year-old daugther to repeat what she needed to convince a detective of a crime that never occurred. It was put on record as an allegation, no charges filed. It took two years for the District Attorney to dismiss the allegations.
Each form of grief carries a different weight. One of the heaviest to bear is for the child you dearly loved who is alive yet, after being duped for years refuses to acknowledge your existence and recognize you as their parent.
If I stayed busy it's easier to avoid the lingering thoughts that bring back the misery of being helpless and hopeless in a custody case that removed the opportunity for me to see my daughter. As time went on I was hesitent to force myself to stop thinking about finding a way to get through to her. One day it's going to be a hard road for Amanda but I have to understand her side in this. It's easier to exclude one parent to have peace. If she doesn't do that, her mom will continue with persusion that Amanda doesn't want.
