Synopsis
Zechariah lived in Palestine after the first Jews had returned from the Babylonian Captivity and started the rebuilding of the Temple. He offers encouragement for that continued construction. His book also includes many prophecies, visions, and images. Many of his prophecies are specifically fulfilled in the New Testament. His last four chapters may have been lifted from lost writings of other writers like Jeremiah or Hosea. (That's unimportant, considering that those were also inspired Biblical writers.) His final chapter covers the last great battle between God and the nations.
