9798308396116: Origins: a global history of local ancestors

Synopsis

This book tells stories of how our ancestors lived before violence became normalized in our modern world. It includes stories from nearly every continent to provide a holistic picture of our earliest ancestors and their experiences. In asking questions, telling stories, and digging through inclusive evidence, this book is a call to collaborate - much like our ancestors before us - in uncovering local histories of our global past.

About the Author

Judith Perera was born in a tropical land of stories during state-imposed curfew in a troublesome summer when it was first boldly asked whether 'history had ended.' After earning doctorate degrees in law and in history, she was no longer amused by the bright city lights because she had learned that dreams cannot be sold to those who never sleep. A spirit quest and a painting during a random right in the desert led her back to the homeland. In Colombo, she finds joy in striving to live up to her legacy as a third-generation teacher.
