Synopsis
Addiction took 22 years.
Recovery began with one decision.
In Inspiration for the Changing Soul: Recovering from Drug Addiction, Jess Diaz shares a raw and deeply personal journey through methamphetamine addiction, relapse, shame, faith, and ultimately healing.
Blending memoir and poetry, this collection chronicles the emotional realities of addiction: the cycles, the self-doubt, the destructive patterns, and the quiet moments of clarity that begin to break them.
Through candid reflections and heartfelt poems, Jess opens up about:
• The grip of meth addiction and the struggle to let go
• Relapse, regret, and learning to forgive yourself
• The power of family, motherhood, and unconditional love
• Faith, spirituality, and finding strength in surrender
• Overcoming shame and reclaiming your identity
• Why every day in recovery is “Day One”
This book does not glamorize addiction. It tells the truth about it.
But more importantly, it tells the truth about recovery.
With honesty and vulnerability, Jess reminds readers that healing is not linear, growth is ongoing, and your past does not disqualify you from a meaningful future.
For anyone:
– battling substance abuse
– supporting a loved one in recovery
– navigating relapse or early sobriety

– or searching for hope after years of struggle
this book offers understanding, compassion, and proof that transformation is possible.
Poetry became a lifeline.
Now these words are offered as a lifeline to you.
You are not alone.
Your story is not over.
And today can still be the beginning.
