In combining the first four novellas of The Cryptid Dossier series into one exciting novel, author Quelle von der Umbra has masterfully woven together the urban mythologies of the Sasquatch people and the emergence of a new and fearsome breed of werewolf-like beings, creating a fresh and suspenseful take on classic cryptid creatures and the feuds that rage between them.

From ‘The Cryptid Dossier: Confidential Case Files 1-4’…

Sarah’s blood turned to ice as the hulking beast rose on its hind legs. Memories flooded back at the sight of the creature’s pointed ears, robust frame, and baleful gaze radiating absolute vindictiveness!
It had returned!
The Dogman cometh…
“The shotgun? Now?” Rogers asked urgently. He raised his weapon to take aim.
“Bullets do nothing to them!” Sarah gasped.
Rogers experienced a stultifying moment of indecisiveness―should he even attempt to blow the thing away, or…
The dogman wavered, snarling as if scanning for its prey. Sarah and Rogers retreated a couple of steps from the window in terror.
Only then did Sarah realize that the Sasquatch had vanished as if it had never been there. She desperately searched the treeline for the orbs, but they, too, were absent.
“She’s gone!” she hissed urgently at Rogers, his face reflecting her horror.

“I need help!” Sarah said finally, avoiding Daemon’s eyes in recognizing the fact.
Daemon looked at her for a while as if trying to decide on something, and then he took out a small notebook from his trouser pocket. He scribbled something on one of its pages, tore it out, and pushed it towards Sarah.
“Sarah, there’s a war going on that nobody around here has a clue about,” he said quietly. “Sightings of creatures like the one you and I have seen are on the up.” He looked around as if to doubly make sure no one was listening. “People who take this stuff seriously say that these dogmen are encroaching on traditional sasquatch territory, and that things are getting ugly.”
“Ugly?” Sarah asked, pensively returning her eyes to Daemon. “How ugly?”
“Let’s just say that many of the more aggressive sasquatch sightings that have been reported lately…” Daemon paused to gather his words. “Let’s just say that people are more likely seeing dogmen instead of good ‘ol Bigfoot when these encounters turn bad.”
Daemon tapped on the piece of paper he had passed across the table. It had an address written on it.
“Come to this place on Saturday, early morning, just after sunrise,” he whispered. “There’s someone I think you should meet… probably the best person to give you the answers you need.”
