Synopsis

A must-read for anyone seeking to understand the true dynamics of power and policy in the modern world.
We Are NOT in This Together: The Privileges of Political Life by best-selling author Billy J Riggs delivers a hard-hitting exploration of the widening divide between political elites and everyday citizens. With sharp analysis and compelling examples, Riggs reveals how lawmakers, corporate powerhouses, and influential institutions manipulate the very laws and systems designed to serve the public. From tax loopholes to healthcare exemptions, from Social Security burdens to environmental regulations, Riggs uncovers how those in power craft policies that shield themselves from the consequences while leaving ordinary citizens to foot the bill.

This eye-opening book exposes how phrases like "we're in this together" mask the harsh reality that while the masses struggle through economic downturns, pandemics, and oligarchical policies, political elites enjoy privileges and protections unavailable to the average American. Drawing on years of research, legislative history, and real-world examples, We Are NOT in This Together pulls back the curtain on the privileges of political life, offering a powerful call to hold our leaders accountable and reclaim fairness in governance.
