반지하방은 땅에서 올라오는 냉기와 습기로 눅눅하다.
창문으로 밖을 내다보면 눈을 쉴 수 있는 경치 대신 걸어다니
는 사람들의 다리만 보인다. 공기를 바꾸려고 창문을 열면 밖
을 오가는 사람들에게 방 안이 훤히 내려다보인다. 그보다 더

인생은 반지하에서 싹이 트고 자라서 꽃을 피우기 시작했
다. 그러므로 나의 반지하는 사랑과 생명과 축복이 넘치는
곳이었다.
