Many books discuss the horrors of immoral wars or the imperfections and shortcomings of the military. After 34 years of service in the U.S. Army and Indiana Air National Guard, I have accumulated many interesting stories about places, times and people. For many years I would randomly tell these stories to my wife. She would say, "You need to write that down!" Well, now I have.....Better late than never. I have left out all of the stories that would be censored. Yes, I have those stories. I was a paratrooper! West Point, Artillery Officer, Vietnam, Germany..... I then changed course and served in the Army as an orthopaedic surgeon and as a hospital commander and Flight Surgeon in the Indiana Air National Guard. From parachuting out of a C-130 to flying above 60,000 feet in a F-4 Phantom, the story could be here. Some people choose to hate every minute in the military service. I chose to have fun, do my best and have "A Different Military Life."
