Welcome! This user guide is written for users that have used the Microsoft TEAMS App and for those users who have not used it at all. The reader as they wish can read the book’s chapters in the order it was written to build their skill level gradually or move from one chapter to another for instructions to perform simple or advanced tasks.

“Microsoft Teams” – the official name is referred to as “TEAMS” throughout this book that is, the word in ALL CAPS appose to simply just the words “Teams” or “teams” with or without a starting capital letter. TEAMS is also used as short for the TEAMS App (desktop app).

When the word “Teams” with a capital “T” is used, it is referring to “Teams” pane (where the pane is interchangeable with a panel or a page) in the TEAMS App. When the word “teams” is used, it will be referring to the plural of the word team or referring to a team of users, colleagues, or people. A group chat is just that and not a team.

This book focuses on the TEAMS App on Windows 10 with Microsoft Office installed on your computer – PC or Laptop. Windows 10 is the most popular Microsoft operating system and works very well with the TEAMS App. This book does not cover the TEAMS mobile app as it is being updated at quite a rapid pace. The TEAMS mobile app should be covered ideally in the 2nd edition of this book or a separate book.

The TEAMS App is an ever-improving software application. The app is fast-developing where new features and functionality are added almost every quarter.
