A final bell signals the end of my elementary school teaching career. I have said goodbye to my friends, my room, and my career. I am excited to be retired at last. Or am I? My anxiety mounts as I drive away, watching the school fade away in my rearview mirror. I have been an educator for thirty-seven years. Now what?
Out of the Crayon Box is a memoir of the first three years of my retired life. It’s an often humorous, sometimes poignant journey to discover a life after teaching. Through theses pages I explore:
