Revision is a process that comes late to many new poets – the first inspiration of a poem comes in a blinding burst, and that blindness to the details of our own work makes it hard to see that it is anything but perfect. The more we read other works though, we learn to look at all poetry with a gentleness that weighs the emotional impact of a plural vs a singular, or whether a metaphor is fully served by all the elements of a scene.
One of my goals with starting Allpoetry was to help encourage poets to grow and learn and embrace the revision process. This book is dedicated to the thousands of fantastic poets that are a part of our community, and I’m happy to present their work to you here.
