Synopsis

“When I was a freshman in high school, I was clueless about fashion. I didn’t know how to tie a tie or tuck my pants properly. My wardrobe consisted almost entirely of sweatpants and hoodies and whenever there was a dressy function, I had to ask my fashion-savvy parents for guidance. I didn’t understand exactly why I had to tuck in my pants or never unbutton the last button of my blazer. Ultimately, the lack of knowledge about fashion took a toll on my confidence, and I committed to learning more about why these rules were in place and why they’re essentially meant to make you feel the best you can in your clothes. So many of them also have interesting historical backgrounds as well, and all these seemingly arbitrary rules took on a new meaning for me.I created this guidebook because I know how overwhelming it can be to navigate proper fashion when you’re new to it. There are so many aspects of dressing sharp to look out for, but I hope for readers to see these tips as a tool for self-confidence rather than as an instructional rulebook. Even though fashion is interpreted and expressed differently by everyone, these rules can serve as a helpful guide for those who want to be knowledgeable and versatile in the aesthetic way they express themselves. I know how much learning all of this has meant for me and my sense of fashion, so I hope readers will take the same away from “A Style Handbook to Dressing Sharp for Young Men.”
