Synopsis

Book 2 of the Best Selling Creation Abomination series

William had only wanted to develop a method of cloning human tissue. But then, his work was stolen by his best friend and the very forces of the Devil began perverting his research for the sole purpose of bringing about the end of days.

Armed with this knowledge, he decided to destroy Cenetics, the laboratory that stole his creation, along with their malevolent research. As a result, he was confined to a mental hospital, where he learned that this corrupt work was continuing at another facility.

Now, William must escape in order to stop Lucifer’s plans. With the help of his wife, his father-in-law, and several angelic interventions, he must battle nefarious creatures, the powers of deception, and the prophecies of the Bible itself, to prevent the apocalypse and save humankind.

Abomination Desolation by Alan Thompson is a spellbinding blend of science fiction and the supernatural. William Mears is a brilliant research scientist who has successfully found a way of curing the most difficult and incurable diseases by harnessing embryonic stem cells. While his intention has always been that of bringing good to humankind and using science to improve the human condition, his work drew the attention of malevolent beings who will stop at nothing to get control of his scientific discovery and use it against mankind. After destroying the laboratory that stole his work, he finds himself a prisoner in a mental hospital, and when he discovers that he never destroyed everything and that the evil work continued elsewhere, he knows he must escape. He is the only one to stop Lucifer from bringing about the apocalypse. Can his wife and father-in-law, together with the benevolent spirits, outwit the cunning of the evil one?

Alan Thompson has crafted a stunning story that has a very strong appeal to both fans of science fiction and the supernatural. The characters are exceptional and they are elaborately developed; multidimensional and real. I enjoyed the way the author develops the conflict in the story. William is a genius who thought his work can help advance humanity, but he unwittingly created a tool that the evil one will use to destroy the very humanity William wants to save, and in this lies the very premise of the psychological conflict that dominates the story. The writing is beautiful and I loved the way the author describes both scenes and the setting. The image of Los Angeles, the City of Angels, feels like a corona moment: "The city streets were mostly devoid of traffic, except for an occasional car or city vehicle here and there, or a sparse scattering of pedestrians." Abomination Desolation is a fast-paced, tightly plotted story that ramps up quickly to an explosive denouement, an exploration of the conflict between good and evil.

From the Inside Flap

Abomination Desolation is a work of darkly thrilling supernatural fiction penned by author Alan Thompson. Written as the sequel to Creation Abomination, we are now set to discover what happened after scientist and researcher William Mears unwittingly opened the doors to a terrifying malevolent force during his work. When the forces of the Devil had taken over and abused his work, William sought to destroy the lab that it all came from in the first place, and we now find him facing life in a mental institution. Escape is the only way to continue the fight of good versus evil, but William will need the help of those he loves to break free and save humanity.

It was easy to pick up the previous story from the way in which author Alan Thompson writes, which delivers smooth exposition in the dialogue and narrative without overdoing too many details at once. William is a fascinating character to encounter after his initial experiences with the dark forces, and his mental journey during this novel is a wonderful exercise in character development. Readers of supernatural thrillers are sure to enjoy the biblical themes and the good versus evil spirit of the piece, as well as the obvious talent which Thompson has for ramping up a cinematic and emotive atmosphere where it counts. The plot is not too complex, and it runs with some fun twists towards a really enjoyable conclusion. Overall, Abomination Desolation is definitely a recommended read for fans of the supernatural genre seeking a new apocalyptic fight to enjoy.
