Synopsis

ARIADNE, orphaned and now turning 16, has been taken care of by The Family her whole life. This mysterious group of relatives keep her moving from house to house, never letting her put down roots or make friends. Ariadne had become no stranger to taking care of herself, and her arrival at her Cousin Karina's ancient house seems no different than any other time.

Or so it seemed … at first.

Come with Ariadne as she wanders into the dangerous forest of family, high school, bullies, new friends, and some powerful monsters that want nothing more than to consume her very soul. She will learn hard lessons about life and love on a journey that will end with her standing in a clearing, facing her enemies and family to defend her friends.

A journey that will give her power - but take away so much more.

Because Ariadne isn’t like other girls.

Ariadne is … a DRYAD.

About the Author

E.N. CARTWRIGHT is a teacher of English by day and, like all English teachers, a secret writer by night. She has a particular interest in novels for young people - especially if you throw in a little magic to them! This is influenced by her own love of reading fantasy novels.

She is the author of 'So, you think it's easy being me?', a series of monologues/short stories from the point-of-view of various horror/fantasy creatures, and 'The Acorn', a long urban fantasy novel about the dryad Ariadne.

She is also the author of a series of study-guides to make Shakespeare an easy and exam friendly text, called 'Shakespeare Shorts'. These include notes, quotes and exemplar essays to de-mystify the Bard.

She lives in the UK with her partner and her very lazy rescue grey-hound - who is actually grey!
