9798667004523: A Preview of First Year Calculus

Synopsis

This workbook is meant to help lay a strong foundation of understanding the big-picture topics traditionally covered in AP Calculus AB. It can be effectively used in two ways: before starting the class, and before reviewing for exams. Jennifer Bailey-Salice has taught math (including four different levels of Calculus) for over 20 years, and has seen firsthand how stressful it can be trying to juggle all the obligations that often go along with taking AP Calc. Jennifer created this workbook to help dissipate stress and put students in a position of confidence and calm.

This 64 page workbook introduces and clearly explains the major concepts that Calculus is based on. Starting with a review of essential pre-requisites, moving on to limits, derivatives and integrals. The focus is on understanding what these mathematical objects are and why they work the way they do.

Best used before starting the class, this workbook is also a good resource for students who may have struggled though the year without fully understanding the concepts. In that case, I would suggest working through the exercises in early April to best prepare for the exam in May.
