Synopsis

"Readers will be delighted in the manner in which Emilia Rosa presents her spunky, strong character's response to the mystery and love that lead her in unexpected new directions." D. Donovan, Senior Reviewer, Midwest Book Review

"Finding Cristina capably straddles the genres of romance, historical fiction and thriller and does so with a deceptively light-hearted touch. A factor that contributes to the readability of the novel is the dialogue; it’s very natural, believable and flows easily and convincingly." Rose Auburn, author and reviewer

It is early 1920s and in the tropical city of Rio de Janeiro, it is February—Carnaval time!

Young Cristina grapples with bills and an ailing mother after her father’s death. A modern woman of the 1920s, she faces the problems head on: her musical skills land her various jobs that help keep the household afloat. But she is not prepared for what the near future would bring: a stranger who will unveil the mysterious past she did not know was hers. Love will flourish among dangers: jealousies, unrequited love, a singular duel, a riotous attempted kidnapping. French, Russians, Italians, Brazilians, Americans and Polish characters interact to create an entertaining story with some funny moments. The culture and people of Brazil come alive in this romantic mystery. Cristina’s real story is only revealed to the reader—and to most of the characters—at the very end of the novel.

Funny, with a drop of mystery and a diverse cast of characters, Finding Cristina is a tale of two people finding love and happiness while not looking for it.
