Ruth Eliza Dyer grew up in Albany, New York. She was a student at St. Agnes Episcopalian school in Loudonville, New York for many years, completing high school at The academy of Holy Names in Albany, New York. Ruth graduated from Valparaiso University in Indiana, earning a degree in theology. She received a Master of Arts degree from Eastern Michigan University in special education, and a Master's Degree in school guidance and counseling from Stetson University in Deland, Florida. Ruth is a retired educator, a member of the Lutheran Diaconal Community, and a cheerleader for spiritual direction. Ruth has a deep appreciation for nature especially after experiencing fifteen summers at Camp MaHeTu (deep in the woods) in Bear Mt. New York during her youth. Her and her partner live with four wonderful cats in Florida.
