Life gets complex, and sometimes it’s hard to hold it all together and cracks start to form.
Many of us write poetry partially as therapy, to help us cope with big emotions and feelings. I like to think that showing these cracks to others helps us heal ourselves. Being vulnerable is where we can also form lasting friendships. It’s also where some of the best “ah-hah” moments of poetry come from – a poet sharing something a bit disturbing but that also resonates with the reader.
Maybe it’s a close call with death, the loss of a beloved husband, a relationship breaking up, losing a job – there’s so many specific details to each moment that can really make your story come alive.
Step into these stories with me, I hope you’re as inspired by them as I am.
