This is a guide to the Federal Rules of Evidence that includes all the rules alongside official commentary to those rules in an attractive, readable format. This book is primarily intended to supplement a casebook in a law school Evidence class. It is designed to encourage those learning the law to carefully read rather than skip over this important material.
This volume includes: (1) The Federal Rules of Evidence, (2) lightly edited versions of the Advisory Committee Notes that were submitted to Congress with the proposed rules and subsequent amendments to those rules, and (3) Editorial commentary that clarifies ambiguous or outdated provisions and introduces quotes from the pertinent legislative history whenever Congress amended or added an evidence rule.
While this volume can accompany any law school Evidence casebook, it is specifically intended to supplement The Law of Evidence by Jeffrey Bellin.
This supplement includes the December 2026 amendment. No new amendment(s) are expected until December 2027.
