Stories of falling, failing, and finding the strength to rise again.
Fallen is a powerful collection of short fiction exploring the ways people stumble, endure, and rise again in the face of life's snares. With stories rooted in character, humor, military service, personal relationships, and history, this volume spans settings as diverse as New York and Los Angeles, the Caribbean and the Far East, and eras from the early twentieth century to the present day.
From intimate portraits of love and loss to tales marked by duty, sacrifice, and resilience, these narratives capture both the private and the universal struggles of American life. In the tradition of Hamlin Garland-yet fully modern in voice and scope-Fallen offers vivid slices of experience that stretch beyond national borders while remaining deeply human at their core.
Each story invites the reader into moments where choice collides with consequence, where humor lightens hardship, and where history's weight meets the persistence of spirit. Whether set against the backdrop of a battlefield, a bustling city, or a far-flung shore, these tales remind us of the ways we all fall-and the meanings we find in rising again.
Compelling and thought-provoking, Fallen is a journey through the fractures and triumphs of the human condition, told with clarity, depth, and abiding humanity.
