Synopsis

"They say a journey of a thousand miles begins with a first step. . ."

And so a hilarious journey begins for a cosmopolitan couple from California's Silicon Valley who, having left their high-tech jobs, decide to exit the "rat race" and move to a remote barrier island on the coast of North Carolina.

What looked like an island paradise in a travel magazine turns out to be a topsy-turvy adventure, as the couple discovers that life among the local gentry of this "Redneck Riviera" involves a raunchy and raucous collection of backward local customs, strange food, seedy bars, suspicious natives, and a free-wheeling island lifestyle of rusty pickups, raucous island elections, overpowered boats, southern-style good ol' boys, and even lost pirate treasure.

What could possibly go wrong when upscale Yankee meets down-home Redneck?
