Synopsis

To some, the world seemed to be coming to an end. Thousands every day were dying at the hands of mankind. Countries were taking hold of every drop of oil they could get, and it didn’t matter how many lives they killed to get it. On a daily basis, people are being taken for granted, lied to, and abused by their own governments and neighbors living next door to them. The socialites of the world were living darker and darker lives as the fossil fuels we used slowly killed us and the planet. The ice caps of our world cried out, weeping their fresh water into our oceans. Our world was slowly dying because of all of us living on the planet.

Harvey understood human beings were the cause of most of our troubles, but what could he do about it? He had problems of his own. His whole life seemed to be a whirlwind of events that never stopped. How does someone work on themselves when the world around you is out of control? After leaving Burlington College, his only thoughts were of the peace and quiet of the green mountains of Vermont. Strapping on his backpack, Harvey would never realize how this one trip across the Appalachian Trail would change his life forever. His entire world would never be the same again.

About the Author

Since he was a teen, the author has wanted to write an enjoyable Saturday and Sunday afternoon novel that one might read on the weekend. To achieve his dream, he took creative writing courses at universities such as the University of Maine in Orono, Maine, and Burlington Community College in Vermont. However, it wouldn't be for years after college that he would write Inescapable Desires, For the Love of Peace, and Elapsing into Love. This series started because he was concerned about the violence, crime, and the killing of our planet that happens daily. It was everyday life that was the invisible force driving him to write these three novels. After receiving an honorable discharge from the United States Navy, his accomplishments in the military were huge. From being a recipient of a Coast Guard Meritorious Unit Commendation for participating in drug operations in the Caribbean, to two letters of Appreciation from the USS Forrestal (CVN-59). After the Navy, he spent years backpacking the Appalachian Trail, the Pacific Crest Trail, the Long Trail in Vermont, and the International Appalachian Trail that wanders into Canada. The author has even hiked in the mountains of Norway. To date, he has backpacked well over 14,000 miles across the United States. Today, he spends his time writing and walking with his Coonhound (Birch) on the trails around his home. His fourth novel, Heaven's Gate Beyond the Threshold, is expected in the summer of 2026.
