சார்லஸ் தியோபிலஸ் எவால்ட் இரேனியஸ் (C.T.E. Rhenius) அவர்களால் மொழிபெயர்க்கப்பட்டு 1836-ஆம் ஆண்டு சென்னை வேதாகமச் சங்கத்தால் (Madras Auxiliary Bible Society) வெளியிடப்பட்ட புதிய ஏற்பாடு, தமிழ் கிறிஸ்தவ இலக்கிய வரலாற்றில் ஒரு மிகப்பெரிய மைல்கல்லாகும். எளிய மற்றும் தெளிவான தமிழ்: சீகன்பால்க் மற்றும் ஃபேப்ரிசியஸ் ஐயர் போன்றோரின் முந்தைய மொழிபெயர்ப்புகள் சற்று கடினமான, வடமொழி கலந்த, நேரடி மொழிபெயர்ப்பு நடையைக் கொண்டிருந்தன. இரேனியஸ் ஐயர் அந்த நடையை மாற்றி, தமிழ் மொழியின் இயல்பான ஓட்டத்திற்கு ஏற்ப (Idiomatic translation) வசனங்களை அமைத்தார். பாமரர்களுக்கான வேதாகமம்: இலக்கியவாதிகள் மட்டுமன்றி, கல்வி அறிவு குறைந்த சாதாரண பொதுமக்களும் எளிதில் வாசித்துப் புரிந்துகொள்ளும் வகையில் இந்த மொழிபெயர்ப்பு அமைந்தது. திருநெல்வேலிப் பகுதிகளில் கிறிஸ்தவம் வேகமாகப் பரவ இது ஒரு முக்கியக் காரணமாகும். இலக்கணச் செம்மை: சிறந்த தமிழ் இலக்கண அறிஞரான இரேனியஸ் (தமிழ் இலக்கண நூல் ஒன்றையும் எழுதியவர்), மூல மொழியான கிரேக்கத்தின் அர்த்தம் சிதையாமல், அதே சமயம் தமிழ் இலக்கண மரபு பிசகாமல் மிக நேர்த்தியாக இதை உருவாக்கினார். தனித்துவமான வார்த்தைப் பயன்பாடு: பராபரன், சுவிசேஷம், சாக்கிரதை போன்ற வார்த்தைகளை மக்கள் நாவில் புழங்கும் நடையில் கையாண்டார். தேவையற்ற இடங்களில் கடுமையான சொற்களைத் தவிர்த்து, ஓசை நயமிக்க தமிழ் வார்த்தைகளைப் பயன்படுத்தினார். வரலாற்று முக்கியத்துவம்:பிற்காலத்தில் அனைத்துச் சபைகளும் ஏற்றுக்கொண்ட புகழ்பெற்ற ஹென்றி பவர் ஐயரின் 'பரிசுத்த வேதாகமம்' உருவாவதற்கு, இரேனியஸ் ஐயரின் இந்த 1836-ஆம் ஆண்டு மொழிபெயர்ப்பே மிக முக்கிய அடித்தளமாக அமைந்தது.
