Healing the Space Between Us is a nonfiction photo journal countaining deeply persoal prose written by a suburban white woman who walks through neighborhoods in Cleveland and East Cleveland.
She sets out to meet people—not because she has solutions for poverty and racism but because she is seeking answers. She inverviews people on the street and photographs their challenges and the changes they envision. The people she meets transform her life. Strangers turn into trusted friends. She joins a network of committed citizens whose collective mission is to create a community where everyone can thrive.
The stories illustrate that people are not broken —it is our connection to one another that is broken. We are each other's missing piece. We can discover the answers to some of the most pressing problems when we bring together people from opposite ends of the racial and economic specturm to co-create change.
