Synopsis

There’s a Mystery in Dry Tortugas National Park!

Fortunately, solving mysteries in national parks is what the Junior Rangers Investigative Club does best!
Lucy Benitez’s mom has brought a team of archeologists to delve into the park’s history of pirates, sailors, soldiers, and shipwrecks. But when equipment and historical artifacts go missing, each setback seems far too convenient—as though someone is trying to stop their research in its tracks.
It is up to Lucy, Justin, Rudy, and a few new friends to find this secret saboteur. Can they do so before Lucy’s mother is sent packing and valuable relics of the park’s past are lost? Is there some greater mystery behind these thefts?
J.R.I.C. is on the case! They will embark on adventure taking them from the top of Loggerhead Lighthouse to the bottom of the sea. What they find may change park history forever!

Treasure off the Coast is the first published adventure of the Junior Rangers Investigative Club. It’s set in Dry Tortugas National Park where the author spent several years growing up. This book is for anyone interested in the history, natural wonder, and potential of National Parks and everyone who loves ensemble mystery/adventure stories. Whether you intend to visit Dry Tortugas, have visited in the past, or simply want to investigate some scattered desert islands on the edge of the horizon, join Justin, Lucy, Rudy, and friends on the case!

About the Author

Nathan W. Landrum would rather write a thousand words about a boy drinking coffee with aliens than a single page about himself. Although, he's bumbled through his shared of adventures. (Usually with or in the footsteps of smarter, braver, people.) From biking across the U.S.A to teaching Biology and Chemistry in Lesotho and China. He grew up spending school holidays in various National Parks including the Dry Tortugas: hiking desert trails, exploring brick forts, and watching wildlife-often with book in hand or story in mind. Each National Park is full of natural and historical intrigue. The Junior Rangers Investigative Club novels allow Nathan to share his experiences in and appreciation for Our Parks. Find him cave crawling, river rafting, or bear watching (from a safe distance) in a park near you, researching for the next adventure of Justin, Lucy, and friends.
