About the Author

Heidi Moretti grew up on a farm and ranch in Montana, where she learned early that food, land, and human health are the same story. She was the kid who brought a journal on camping trips and wrote down everything she saw — every bird, every plant, every shift in the light — because the natural world felt less like a backdrop and more like the point. That curiosity about how living things work never left her. It just eventually found its way into a clinical nutrition practice.
 
She is a registered dietitian and Certified LEAP Therapist with a Master of Science in Nutritional Sciences, post-graduate training through the Institute for Functional Medicine, and 26 years of clinical experience specializing in chronic stress, hormonal health, gut dysfunction, and food sensitivities. One of a limited number of practitioners nationwide certified in mediator release testing and the LEAP protocol, she spent more than two decades at Providence Saint Patrick Hospital in Missoula before founding The Healthy RD LLC and co-founding ALIGN Wellness — bringing the functional medicine approach she had been practicing quietly inside a conventional system out into the open.
 
She has published peer-reviewed clinical research as principal investigator, including studies on vitamin D3 and heart failure, biotin deficiency and restless legs syndrome, protein supplementation in dialysis patients, and nutritional status in Asian dialysis populations.
