From the Inside Flap

A comet known as the Ender is on a collision course for Earth. According to astronomers, human civilization will be wiped out. All over the world, people are facing the end as best as they can.

In suburban Minneapolis, David Williams, anesthesiologist and father of two, studies the news every day, desperately searching for some way to save his family.

Sierra Preston, daughter of famous Hollywood executive Rick Preston, has accepted her fate. She has everything she needs in her Pacific Palisades mansion. The only thing missing is Dad.

When Oklahoma City fell under siege, Wayne Wilcox stayed behind to care for dozens of senior citizens who were unable to evacuate. So far, he's been able to evade the marauding gangs.

Randall Pond, a member of the marauding gangs, is ready to jump on any opportunity that comes along. He just needs to find the right ass to kiss.

Alice Cameron had a chance to enter a military bunker, but only if she gave in to her Commanding Officer's perverted demands. Now her C.O. is dead and Cameron intends to watch the Ender slam into the Pacific from the top of Mauna Kea.

Haunted by his abusive father, Joe Walker has hiked to a precipice three thousand feet above Yosemite Valley, where he intends to fly, or die trying.

Astronomer Priya Rami stayed at her job to the bitter end, watching the comet's approach, exhilarated by the science, but gutted by the fact that there wasn't anything she could do ... until she spots something new, something other than the Ender.

Two days before the Ender's impact, their lives all change.

Several thousand pods land in a swath extending from the Great Lakes to the Great Basin. Anyone who gets into a pod is carried away. No one knows who sent them or where they go, but everyone knows what will happen if they don't find one.

When the pods open, David and Sierra band together with a small group to search for answers. They want to know where they are, what happened to the rest of the survivors, who sent the pods, and why. Every step of the way, they encounter something that wants to kill them ... including some of the other survivors.

Each answer leads to new mysteries and greater challenges in this saga of first contact, alien invasion, monster horror, and post-apocalyptic action-adventure.
