That is, until a hot July day in 1968, when Patrick King, one of the soldiers on the mission who was blinded in the execution of it, reveals it in vivid detail to a reporter. With his wife, Pauline, by his side on their porch in Bald Knob, Arkansas, Patrick shares his story, which becomes much more than a reporter getting a story: a journey of healing for both him and the reporter, Gordon Grover, a World War II veteran.
