Synopsis

Five Gates of Entry - Selected Poems is a compilation of the best of Don Langford's poems taken from his previous five poetry collections. Here we find the range and scope of Langford's poetic perspectives in full expression, including reverence and wonder on the one hand, and dark social observations of urban consumerism on the other. He addresses our human connections to deep time as well as the loss of meaning and the inadequacies of language to express our deepest human potential for wonder and awe. Langford maintains that his poetry is inseparable from self exploration and this includes his treatment of desire and loss, an appreciation of beauty, and a deep understanding of impermanence. This is a collection meant to be savored attentively to appreciate the depth of its timeless subject matter.
