Synopsis

In an enchanted valley halfway to Fairyland is a castle where only shadows live, shadows who have waited for hundreds of years for the spell cast on them to be broken.

One day a girl named Lucy follows a little white dog through a tunnel into her mountain and finds the valley. There she meets the mysterious red-haired Michael, who takes her into the castle to meet Gloria, the mortal princess who married a fairy, their children and their children's children, and learn the secret that will finally lift the spell.

About the Author

Marian Cockrell, 1909-1999, was born in Birmingham, Alabama, and lived most of her life in Ojai, California. She married a writer, Francis M. Cockrell, and quickly took up what became the family profession. She published short stories, novels and screenplays. Her television work included episodes of Alfred Hitchcock Presents and the 1960s series Batman, often collaborating with her husband. Shadow Castle was her only children's book. She was a lover of animals and her house was always full of family pets and rescued creatures. She is survived by her daughter, novelist Amanda Cockrell, who edited this edition.
